Going back to June of 2011, Wes and Becca shared a World History class at Bellarmine University. They noticed each other almost immediately during the first days of class, followed by nervous eyes peeking across the classroom, catching glimpses during lectures. Mutual thoughts regarding the other not being like the typical, city-slicker or artsy Bellarmine student, drew them towards each other. Wes invited Becca to study for the final exam (which she probably should have said yes to because History class is not her forte), which she declined with a semi-solid reason of prepping for her daughter’s first birthday party. After summer class the two parted ways for the summer. Fast forward to Fall semester, the two ran into each other on the stairs of Frazier Hall. After reuniting Wes and Becca started catching up more in Horrigan Hall during their lunch breaks and eventually exchanged numbers. But, at that point, other committed relationships had formed.

From the Fall of 2011 until Graduation day in May of 2014 Wes and Becca were glued at the hip on the hills of Bellarmine. Study sessions and lunch breaks created the perfect storm of subtle enamoration, which wouldn’t manifest itself until nearly a decade later. The two supported each other through numerous study sessions in Horrigan and the Library, they attended Easter Mass with Becca’s family, had summer hangouts at the race track and tractor pull, Zoo visits with Becca and Brooklyn, and numerous workouts in the SuRF together which continued to strengthen their bond and friendship. They graduated together in May of 2014 and then life drew them apart for the next couple of years.

They had completely lost touch for about 2 years until one afternoon Becca called Wes. He was at Eldora Speedway so he did not answer but Becca left a voicemail stating how much she missed her best friend and wished that they could talk again. That phone call was the beginning of rekindling their friendship and continuing to build their bond over the next several years. They would keep in touch messaging on and off for the next several years. There would also be numerous late night catch ups in the parking lot of Coffee Crossing or grabbing dinner when Wes would come through town for track.

Nearly a decade, multiple degrees and relationships later, the stars seemed to align. In July of 2022 at the Bellarmine Alumni Night at a LouCity soccer game, the right timing FINALLY presented itself and the enamored duo became a couple - only 11 years in the making. Since then it’s been like they are glued at the hip once again. Becca will forever be cheering Wes’ throwers on at Saturday meets in the spring and sharing the racing blanket during summer races, while Wes becomes the permanent farmhand and wedding photographer support concierge.
